The aim is to broaden an understanding of Cuban art beyond nation and diaspora

Program: Phase 1 Havana, Cuba: May 27 – June 5, 2015

To facilitate an encounter between Cuban-American artists from Miami and their counterparts on the island. This initial phase of the dialogues program marked the first time that a group of visual artists from Miami traveled to Cuba as a group and was invited by an official institution in Havana.

The program included private studio visits with artists, guided tours with museum curators, meetings with directors and other cultural actors from a range of institutions, talks at the Ludwig Foundation, as well as a two-day symposium at Casa de las Americas.

Casa de las Américas is the official institution in Cuba that organized and hosted a two-day symposium open to the public featuring panel discussions with leading curators, critics and scholars from both Miami and Havana. For more images about these visits please go to GALLERY.
