Ruben Millares

B. 1980, MIAMI

Ruben Millares (b. 1980, Miami, FL.) is a visual artist considers himself a medium agnostic who attempts to define balance as a concept in everyday life.  Through the use of sculpture, Sumi ink drawing, performance, installation, print making, music and video he is able to capture the essence of an idea without the limitation of a specific artistic vehicle.

Recent exhibitions include solo shows at The Central Bank of the Bahamas, Spinello Projects in Miami, Perfect Lovers (a Frieze New York special project) at White Box Gallery and WDNA Gallery in Miami.  Group shows include The Tampa Museum of Art, Spinello Projects, Philadelphia City Hall, Dorsch Gallery, David Castillo Gallery, Fountain Art Fair New York, The Invisible Dog Art Space Brooklyn, Art & Culture Center of Hollywood and Crane Art Space Philadelphia.  Millares’ video/performance piece with collaborator Antonia Wright, Job Creation in a Bad Economy, was featured in the 2011-2012 exhibition at the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse.  His work is included in the permanent collections of Martin Z. Margulies at the Warehouse (Miami), Hadley Martin Fisher Collection (Tampa) and the Cricket Taplin Collection at the Sagamore Hotel (Miami Beach). Ruben Millares is represented by Pan American Projects in Miami, FL.
